A perfect day on the Alster
Especially during the summer, there is really only one hot spot in the city: the Alster. The waterfront bustles with locals and tourists grilling, chilling, working out, boating, or just enjoying a cup of coffee or a cool Pilsner. People say that the Outer Alster has the most beautiful jogging path in the world. Given the spectacular sunsets, there is no doubt. How convenient that the Le Méridien Hamburg is located so close to the Outer Alster.
It's the perfect place to spend a wonderful day.
In the morning, starting the day with a run around the Alster on the most beautiful jogging path in the world will certainly perk up tired eyes.
Afterwards, our hotel guests can head to a lavish breakfast buffet on the 9th floor. In HERITAGE you can enjoy the view of the Alster through the panorama windows while you savor fresh rolls and coffee. It's the perfect way to start your day!
Right in front of our door, the team from barca An der Alster looks forward to your visit. You may get lucky and nab a free spot on the landing dock? The deck chairs are especially good for watching the action on the Alster.
It's a good thing that barca has its own boat rental. Whether on a sail boat or a pedal boat, discover Hamburg from a new perspective! It's the ultimate Alster experience!
And you don't have to search very long to find a cozy spot on the Alster. Spread out a picnic blanket right at water's edge and you'll be surprised at how quickly that relaxed vacation feeling comes over you.
Tip: The Lange Reihe is only 1 minute away on foot. Whether cool beverages, fruit, or a Franzbrötchen pastry, you'll find everything you need for your picnic right here. Just don't forget your picnic basket!
Stash the provisions for your picnic on the carrier and head out on your bike – sounds good? Then talk to us! We offer bicycle rental to our guests at Le Méridien.
Discover the beautiful scenery along the 7.33 km route.
Get off the bike now and then to take in the view – simply stunning.
You can end your day with a luscious cocktail at the HERITAGE bar on the 9th floor. Gaze through the panorama windows onto what is probably the most beautiful view of the sunset.

The magnificent villas around the Alster and the elegant shopping streets between Große Bleichen and Jungfernstieg are situated in the immediate vicinity of the rather unassuming port district, the world-famous Reeperbahn and the trendy districts, like Schanzenviertel and Karolinenviertel. On Deichstrasse, an old tradesmen's street with old residential and office buildings dating back to the 17th to 19th centuries, the past is within grasp. Those who prefer the present should take a stroll along the Elbe in the classy suburban district of Blankenese. The beach offers you a great opportunity to sit and watch the majestic container ships come and go. Hamburg also offers a wide variety of leisure activities, whether it be cultural events or a spot of shopping.
Where guests can breathe in the exciting aromas from across the world in the air. A sense of freedom and longing combined with the circling of seagulls overhead creates a mellow melancholic mood at the port. A sightseeing tour of the port is a real must if you wish to be able to say you have really seen Hamburg.
The Old Elbe Tunnel by the St. Pauli Landungsbrücken (landing stages), which was a sensational technological feat back in 1922, is among Hamburg's nostalgic highlights and is well worth a visit.
The Speicherstadt district (part of the the UNESCO world heritage site) is the largest connected warehouse complex in the world, that can now look back on its 100-year history. Since June 2015 Speicherstadt and Kontorhausviertel have become part of the UNESCO world heritage sites.
HafenCity is well known beyond the confines of Hamburg and is currently the largest inner city development project in Europe. This is an impressive attempt to demonstrate how well living, relaxing and working in a city centre by the river can be combined.
